Step by step:

Flight with British Airways… desert… we were almost 30 on the Boing 777… already that’s fantastic.

Volo con la British… deserto… saremo stati in 30 sul Boing 777… fantastico già questo.

The first impact with China reminds me others asians country, especially for spices and strong smells, but much less poor. Spits are a special subject… whoever and wherever spit, that’s all.

Il primo impatto con la Cina mi ha ricordato un po’ gli altri paesi asiatici, soprattutto per gli odori spezziati e forti, ma molto meno povera. Argomento a parte sono gli sputi… chiunque e dappertutto sputa, ecco tutto.

After my arrival I go out for “explore” and have a walk… gray is the base color… you can find it mixed to green, yellow, blue etc but the base line is gray… and whether gives a good help.

Poco dopo il mio arrivo, esco a fare due passi per ambientarmi ed “esplorare” un po’ la zona… il grigio è il colore dominante… lo trovi mescolato al verde, giallo, blu ecc ma cmq la linea di basso la fa il grigio… e il meteo gli fa da metronomo.

I’m looking for a not touristic restaurant. Open the door:

Cerco un ristorante non turistico. Apro la porta:

“Hello… do you have an english menu?”

Laughs… and they answer in chines.

Ridono… e mi rispondono in cinese.

…….. “I don’t speak chines but I would like to eat here”……

They talk in chines and arrive a man with a leather jacket and a nice face that speak a good english.

Chiacchiericcio in cinese e arriva un signore con una giacca di pelle e una faccia simpatica che parla un discreto inglese. Un cliente.

“I would like to eat here but I can’t speak and read chines”

“Hi, call me David. I’ll help you:” 

He let me sit and he tell me something about his life. He lived in US.

Mi fa sedere, mi racconta che ha vissuto in America e un po’ della sua vita.

Meanwhile, he explain me what’s arriving for lunch: some fabulous pork with steam rice and “onions”. Really delicious. Arrive even some tea.

Mentre mi fa compagnia mi spiega un po’ quello che mi stanno portando: del maiale squisito con del riso bollito e della “cipolla”. Ottimo, davvero. Mi portano anche del tè.

We talk a few and he propose me to follow him and his friends in their work-day. A tour of the city by car.

Parliamo un po’ e mi propone di seguire lui e i suoi amici nella loro giornata lavorativa. Un giro della città in macchina.

“Fantastic!!”

He ask the bill for me and he explain me that in China is not it’s not customary to tip, “but if you really want…”. I leave 3 RMB (less then 0,40 €) on a bill of 27 RMB and the waitress start to be embraced and try to give me it back… I insist… they insist…. I still insist… they still insist… I had (with Dave halp) to insist 4 times….

Chiede il conto per me e mi spiega che in Cina non è tradizione lasciare la mancia, ma “se proprio vuoi…”. Lascio 3 RMB (meno di 40 centesimi di euro) di mancia su un conto da 27 RMB e le cameriere si imbarazzano, fanno cenno di no e cercano di ridarmela… insisto…. e loro insistono…. insisto ancora…. e loro insistono ancora…. ho dovuto (con l’aiuto di David) insistere 4 volte…

The tour is interesting: they are recording videos and making photos to compare the modern area of the town with the old area.

Il giro è interessante: stanno girando dei video e facendo delle foto per confrontare la parte moderna della città con quella antica.

First we ant in the modern area, next to Quingking St., close to the blue metro station Luomashi. Here you can find all the typical malls the we have in all the westerns towns.

Siamo andati prima nella zona moderna, su Quingking St., vicino alla fermata della metro linea blu Luomashi. Qui si trovano i tipici centri commerciali che troveresti in ogni grande città occidentali.

Also, in that modern area, there is even an ancient part…

Inoltre, all’interno di questa zona moderna, si trova anche una piccola zona con costruzioni più antiche…

Then we went to Kuanxiangzi Alley, close to the red metro stations Tonghuimen. The street of the restaurants and bars. The area is touristic but in the classic ancient cinese style.

Poi siamo andati a Kuanxiangzi Alley, vicino alla fermata Tonghuimen della metro linea rossa. La strada sei ristorati e dei bar. La zona è turistica ma nello stile più antico della cultura cinese.

Here I ask to the 2 friends of Dave what are some foods on the street-shops but they can’t speak english, so they buy me this as gift. After Dave explain me that are dumplings. Delicious.

Qui chiedo gli altri due amici di Dave cosa sia del cibo che vendono alle bancarelle e loro, visto che non parlano quasi per niente inglese, me li regalano. Poi Dave mi spiega che sono delle specie di tortellini… in inglese si chiamano dumpling. Deliziosi.

The tour is over but David propose me to continue it going to take his daughter at school and then to visit his house.

I tour finisce ma David mi propone di proseguire andando a prendere sua figlia a scuola e poi di vedere casa sua.

“Amazing!!!”

We go to take the little Jenny at the elementary schools. She is in a private school. All in uniforms. She and her friend “play” with me talking in english and trying to teach me some chines.

Andiamo a prendere la piccola Jenny alle elementari. È in una scuola privata. Tutti con la divisa. Lei e la sua amichetta si cimentano con me parlando un po’ di inglese e cercano di insegnarmi un po’ di cinese.

The we get to his house, wonderful, huge, clean and at the 22nd floor. 

Poi arriviamo a casa sua, bellissima, enorme, pulita e al 22° piano.

We go for a walk with the dog and he invite me out for dinner together, that time Pizza Hat, Jenny choose.

Portiamo fuori il cagnolino e mi invita a cena insieme, questa volta Pizza Hat, sceglieva Jenny.

At the end of the dinner he bring me back to the hostel.

Finita la cena mi riporta in ostello.

Almost he didn’t wanted that I say “thank you” for all what he has done! I was his guest… it’s fantastic, simply fantastic to find a friend after less then two hours from my arrival in China.

Quasi nemmeno voleva che lo ringraziassi per tutto quel che ha fatto! Io in tutto questo sono stato suo ospite… è fantastico semplicemente fantastico trovare un amico dopo meno di due ore dal mio arrivo in Cina.
