Goodbye Puerto Princesa, hello El Nido. Location north of Palawan. Never heard of her? The photos of the previous article I have taken them. What about the place? Much… this is a very small town in which you environments in 15 minutes. Here the electricity is available only from 17.00 to 6.00 in the morning (unless come a black-out – to average at least 2 a day) … then there is no escape: there are no fans or air conditioning to save you from the heat … you wake up. Even if you stay in an expensive place with a private generator, however, does not have a hope: the roosters sing from 5.00 to 20.00… and made them virtually inside the room.

Tanto… si tratta di una piccolissima cittadina nella quale ti ambienti in 15 minuti. Qui l’elettricità la trovi solo dalle 17.00 alle 6.00 di mattina (sempre che non faccia visita qualche black-out – di media almeno 2 al giorno)… poi non c’è scampo: non ci sono più ventilatori o aria condizionata a salvarti dal caldo… ti svegli. Anche se pernotti in un luogo costoso dotato di un generatore privato, comunque non hai speranze: i galli qui cantano dalle 5.00 alle 20.00… e li hai praticamente dentro la stanza.

This problem of electricity has not helped my slow “fix the blog.”

Questo problema dell’elettricità non ha aiutato il mio lento “sistemare il blog”.

Upon arrival, the driver of the motorized tricycle (transport par excellence to El Nido) took me to a “hotel” where they had no more rooms available. So I would have smacked the “room” behind the desk where, every morning I would wake up to the owner to make tea: there was also the only stove. Discarded the tavern, took me to see a bungalow to the west of the town. Five euros per night extra and not in the center (10 min walk), but when I arrived there was this and I could not resist.

All’arrivo il pilota del triciclo motorizzato (mezzo di trasporto per antonomasia a El Nido) mi ha portato in un “hotel” dove non avevano più stanze disponibili. Così mi avrebbero appioppato la “stanza” dietro la reception dove, ogni mattina, la proprietaria mi avrebbe svegliato per per fare il tè: li c’era anche l’unico fornello. Scartata la bettola, mi ha portato a vedere un bungalow a ovest della cittadina. Cinque Euro a notte in più e non in centro (10 min a piedi), però quando sono arrivato c’era questo e non ho potuto resistere.

Another peculiarity of the place: there are no ATMs. If left without money you can just go to an office of exchange which has absolutely disadvantageous interest rates or in any store that accepts credit cards and receive money with the 10% withholding … In short, better to have enough money with you.

Altra particolarità del posto: non ci sono bancomat. Se resti senza soldi puoi solo andare in un ufficio di cambio che ha dei tassi assolutamente svantaggiosi oppure in qualche negozio che accetta carte di credito e ricevere dei soldi con il 10% di trattenute… insomma, meglio avere i soldi necessari con se.

The days spent here have been intense and beautiful. There are so many things to do and the atmosphere is really positive.

I giorni passati qui sono stati intensi e belli. Ci sono davvero tante cose da fare e l’atmosfera è davvero positiva.

I think the strength of El Nido is the right balance between fun, nature and relaxation.

Credo che il punto di forza di El Nido sia il giusto equilibrio tra divertimento, natura e relax.
